1999 Senate Joint Resolution 32
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Robert W. Dean.
Whereas, Robert W. Dean was born on July 20, 1923, in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, and died on December 2, 1999, in Janesville; and
Whereas, Mr. Dean was educated in Tomahawk schools and earned a law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1950; and
Whereas, Mr. Dean served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1943 to 1946; and
Whereas, Mr. Dean served as an assistant district attorney for Jackson County in 1950, and also an attorney for villages of Alma Center and Taylor from 1950 to 1952; and
Whereas, Mr. Dean served in the Wisconsin senate from 1959 to 1962, where he was elected assistant minority floorleader for the 1961 session; and
Whereas, during his tenure in the legislature, Mr. Dean was a charter member of the National Conference of Legislative Leaders; and
Whereas, upon leaving the legislature, Mr. Dean was elected judge of Marathon County Circuit Court, Branch 1, from 1964 to 1978, and elected a judge of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, District III, from 1978 until his retirement in 1986; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the devoted public service that Robert W. Dean contributed to this state, express their sorrow at his death, and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to Mr. Dean's 7 children, Lucinda Ann Dean (Whitewater), Daniel William Dean (Fort Collins, Colorado), Timothy Robert Dean (Chugiak, Arkansas), Robert Peter Dean (Fort Collins, Colorado), Kathy Esther Miller (Bennett, Colorado), Christopher Robert Dean (Poynette), and Jennifer Holly Andrews (Madison).
