ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: commending Dick Bennett on his career, accomplishments, and contributions to Wisconsin basketball.
Whereas, University of Wisconsin-Madison head basketball coach Dick Bennett recently coached his final game after a 36-year coaching career in the state of Wisconsin; and
Whereas, Dick Bennett finished his collegiate coaching career with an impressive record of 453 victories and only 258 losses; and
Whereas, 6 Dick Bennett-coached teams have made appearances in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament; and
Whereas, Dick Bennett coached the University of Wisconsin Badgers to their first appearance in the NCAA Final Four in 59 years; and
Whereas, Dick Bennett graduated from Ripon College in 1965, and began his high school coaching career later that year in West Bend; and
Whereas, Dick Bennett was not only a great basketball coach, but he was also a teacher on and off the court, instilling passion, dedication, and hard-work in his players throughout his 36-year coaching career; and
Whereas, Dick Bennett had a 100% graduation rate of players who stayed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison through their senior year; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the legislature of the state of Wisconsin commends Dick Bennett on his career, accomplishments, and contributions to Wisconsin basketball and wishes him the very best upon his retirement; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to Dick Bennett.
