2001 Senate Joint Resolution 45
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: dedicating room 412 East of the Wisconsin state capitol as the permanent location and hearing room for the joint committee on finance and honoring 90 years of service by the joint committee on finance.
Whereas, the joint committee on finance, having served the Wisconsin legislature since the enactment of chapter 6, laws of 1911, is the longest serving continuing standing committee of the legislature; and
Whereas, the origin of the joint committee on finance dates back nearly to statehood, when the joint committee on claims was established in 1857 to consider appropriations bills; and
Whereas, the joint committee on finance is the only legislative standing committee of any state in the nation that is charged with the responsibility of reviewing both revenues and appropriations; and
Whereas, upon completion of the renovation of the Wisconsin state capitol, the hearing room of the joint committee on finance will permanently be located in room 412 East; and
Whereas, on October 24, 2001, former and current members of the joint committee on finance will assemble to dedicate room 412 East; and
Whereas, we express our appreciation and pay tribute to the members of the joint committee on finance for 90 years of service to the Wisconsin legislature and the people of Wisconsin; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of the state of Wisconsin, in celebration of the 90th anniversary of the joint committee on finance and in tribute to the service of the members of the joint committee on finance during this time, hereby dedicates room 412 East of the Wisconsin state capitol as the permanent location and hearing room for the joint committee on finance; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to each former and current member of the joint committee on finance.
