2003 Senate Resolution 28
ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: commending the Green Bay Packers on their NFC North Division Championship.
Whereas, the combination of the Green Bay Packers' win over the Denver Broncos and the Minnesota Vikings' loss to the Arizona Cardinals on December 28, 2003, gave the Green Bay Packers sole ownership of the NFC North Division title; and
Whereas, after starting the first half of the season with a 4 and 4 record, the Green Bay Packers, under the steady leadership of Coach Mike Sherman and his staff, finished the season by winning 6 of their last 8 games, including wins at Minnesota and Tampa Bay, to finish with a 10 and 6 record and a first-round playoff win against the Seattle Seahawks; and
Whereas, Brett Favre continued his status as one of the NFL's greatest players by overcoming physical injury and personal loss to start an NFL record 189 regular season games and lead the Packers to their 5th division title and 9th playoff appearance since he joined the team in 1992; and
Whereas, Ahman Green, running behind one of the league's best offensive lines, finished 2nd in the NFL with a team record 1,883 yards rushing, the first 200 plus rushing game in team history, and 20 total touchdowns, including a team record 98-yard touchdown run against the Denver Broncos; and
Whereas, Brett Favre, Ahman Green, and Marco Rivera were named to the Pro Bowl and Mike Flanagan, Nick Barnett, Bubba Franks, William Henderson, Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, Mike McKenzie, Darren Sharper, and Ryan Longwell were named as alternates; and
Whereas, the Green Bay Packers displayed the type of commitment to excellence, team effort, and work ethic that embodies the Wisconsin spirit; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, That the members of the Wisconsin senate hereby commend and congratulate the Green Bay Packers for winning the NFC North Division title, thank them for their contribution to Green Bay and the people of Wisconsin, and wish them the best of luck and good health in their pursuit of the Vince Lombardi Trophy in 2004; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this resolution to the Green Bay Packers organization, including Packers President Bob Harlan, Coach and General Manager Mike Sherman and his assistants, and each Packer player.
