2005 Assembly Joint Resolution 105
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: life and public service of George D. McCallum.
Whereas, George D. McCallum was born October 21, 1922, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, to Neil and Hazel (Buehner) McCallum, and died April 14, 2006, in Madison, Wisconsin; and
Whereas, Mr. McCallum served his country as a member of the United States Army Infantry during World War II and received a Bronze Star for heroism in action; and
Whereas, Mr. McCallum attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering, the University of Illinois, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service before serving as office manager and president of the Federal Credit Union, from which he retired in 2003; and
Whereas, Mr. McCallum was an active member of his community, coaching little league and basketball, serving as a Cub Scout master, and participating in the Freemasons; and
Whereas, Mr. McCallum was a dedicated family man who married the former Marilyn J. Libke on February 21, 1948, and they had 4 children, including Scott McCallum, the 43rd governor of Wisconsin; in addition to his wife and children, Mr. McCallum is survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the life and public service of George D. McCallum, express their sorrow at his death, and extend condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to Mr. McCallum's wife, Marilyn, their children and stepchildren, and Mr. McCallum's brothers, Keith and Neil.
