2007 Assembly Joint Resolution 10
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of David A. Brandemuehl.
Whereas, David A. Brandemuehl was born on December 7, 1931, in Mount Hope, Wisconsin, and died on September 26, 2006, in Fennimore; and
Whereas, he was a graduate of Fennimore Community Schools; and
Whereas, Mr. Brandemuehl served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1955; and
Whereas, Mr. Brandemuehl married Elizabeth Cretney on June 14, 1958, and together they raised four children; and
Whereas, they shared 39 years of marriage before her death on June 15, 1997; and
Whereas, Mr. Brandemuehl farmed in the Fennimore area for over 35 years and was a passionate supporter of his family's involvement in 4-H, sports, forensics, music, and educational and career endeavors; and
Whereas, Mr. Brandemuehl married LaRue Oetker on December 19, 2004; and
Whereas, Mr. Brandemuehl started his public service by serving on the Fennimore Community School District school board from 1967 to 1987; and
Whereas, Mr. Brandemuehl was first elected to the Wisconsin assembly in 1986, serving in the 1987 to 1999 sessions; and
Whereas, during his tenure in the assembly, Mr. Brandemuehl was chairman of the transportation committee during the 1995, 1997, and 1999 sessions, and included in his many accomplishments were the expansion of U.S. Highway 151, drug-free school zones, sesquicentennial license plates, and mandatory HIV testing of those accused of committing sexual assaults; and
Whereas, Mr. Brandemuehl was known as a leader of principle and integrity who took great pleasure and pride in meeting and serving the people of southwest Wisconsin; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the devoted public service that David A. Brandemuehl contributed to this state and his community, express their sorrow at his death, and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to Mr. Brandemuehl's wife, LaRue of Grundy Center, Iowa; two sons, Mark Brandemuehl of Mountain View, California, and Steven Brandemuehl of Plymouth, Michigan; and two daughters, Rene Wehler of Mount Morris, Illinois, and Michelle Brandemuehl of San Francisco, California.
