2007 Assembly Joint Resolution 77
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Richard B. Nowakowski.
Whereas, Richard B. Nowakowski was born on January 4, 1921, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and died on October 28, 2007; and
Whereas, Mr. Nowakowski was educated in SS. Cyril and Methodius Parochial School and South Division High School; and
Whereas, he served in World War II from October 1942 to March 1946 serving in the Army in an anti-tank unit in France and Germany; and
Whereas, Mr. Nowakowski married Patricia Foren; and
Whereas, he earned Ph. B. and LL.B. degrees from Marquette University; and
Whereas, Mr. Nowakowski was first elected to the Wisconsin assembly in 1952, serving in the 1953 and 1955 sessions; and
Whereas, Mr. Nowakowski served on the Milwaukee City Common Council from 1950 to 1952 and again from 1956 to 1968; and
Whereas, after leaving the assembly, Mr. Nowakowski stayed involved in local civic life, serving stints with the Milwaukee Harbor Commission, the Milwaukee County Planning Commission, the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, and the Milwaukee Exposition and Convention Center and Arena Board; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the devoted public service that Richard B. Nowakowski contributed to this state and his community, express their sorrow at his death, and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to Mr. Nowakowski's wife, Patricia; daughters, Joanne Clark, Louise Esworthy, Janet Luberda, Kathleen Markwiese, and Linda Winter; and sons, Kenneth Nowakowski and Paul Nowakowski.
