2007 Senate Joint Resolution 77
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and military service of Lance Corporal Andrew Matus of the United States Marine Corps who lost his life during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Whereas, Lance Corporal Andrew Matus was born on September 14, 1987, in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, and died on January 21, 2007, from enemy action in Anbar Province in Iraq; and
Whereas, Lance Corporal Andrew Matus was a 2005 graduate of Weyerhaeuser High School in Weyerhaeuser, Wisconsin, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2005; and
Whereas, Lance Corporal Andrew Matus served with distinction with the Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, I Marine Expeditionary Force, and was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously; and
Whereas, Lance Corporal Andrew Matus' family and fellow citizens are very proud of him and know that he died doing what he wanted to do: serve the nation and fight for freedom; and
Whereas, Lance Corporal Andrew Matus embodied the United States Marine Corps core values of honor, courage, and commitment and he will be sorely missed; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of the state of Wisconsin commemorates the remarkable life of Lance Corporal Andrew Matus and extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint resolution to Andrew's parents, Gary and Donna Matus of Chetek, Wisconsin.
