ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and service of Corporal Jason F. Lemke of the United States Army, who lost his life during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Whereas, Corporal Jason F. Lemke of West Allis, Wisconsin, was born on July 22, 1977, and died from wounds he sustained when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device at Ibrahim Al Adham in Diyala province northeast of Baghdad, on January 5, 2008; and
Whereas, Corporal Lemke was deployed to Iraq as a member of Company A, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, and this was his first tour of duty in Iraq after Corporal Lemke had enlisted in the U.S. Army on December 18, 2004, in Milwaukee; and
Whereas, Corporal Lemke was inspired to serve his country by his grandfather, who is a U.S. Marine, his other grandfather, who was in the U.S. Army, his uncle, who is a U.S. Marine, and his other uncle, who was in the U.S. Army; and
Whereas, Corporal Lemke, cherished father of Amber, Liz, and Casey, loving son of Colleen and Greg Lemke, brother to Jerrie Lemke and Jill Lemke, devoted grandson of Rosemary Lemke, uncle of D.J. Polaske and Kyra Lemke, special nephew of Scott Lemke, Lynn Lemke, and David Lemke, was a 1996 graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of the state of Wisconsin commemorates the remarkable life of Corporal Jason F. Lemke, mourns his death, and extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint resolution to Corporal Lemke's parents, Colleen and Greg Lemke.
