2009 Senate Joint Resolution 64
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Mary Anne McNulty.
Whereas, Mary Anne McNulty was a champion for human rights and a passionate woman who represented the near south side of Milwaukee for the 12th Aldermanic District; and
Whereas, Mary Anne McNulty was a Chicago-raised Irish Catholic who moved to Milwaukee in 1969 when she was recruited to work at the Inner City Redevelopment Project; and
Whereas, Mary Anne McNulty was involved in politics at the national and local levels and won two terms representing the 12th Aldermanic District in Milwaukee in 1984 and 1988; and
Whereas, Mary Anne McNulty, after deciding not to seek a third full term in 1992, became the director of the South Side Neighborhood Center; and
Whereas, Mary Anne McNulty spent her whole life being a tireless advocate for the poor and being a strong voice for voter and immigrant rights; and
Whereas, Mary Anne McNulty fought wholeheartedly for the constituents of the near south side of Milwaukee long after her service as an alderwoman; and
Whereas, Mary Anne McNulty passed away on November 6, 2009, at age 61 after battling cancer; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature honor Mary Anne McNulty for her dedication and passion and for tirelessly advocating for the poor and immigrant communities in Milwaukee; and, be it further
Resolved, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature express their heartfelt sorrow and deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and colleagues of Mary Anne McNulty; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution to the family of Mary Anne McNulty.
