2013 Assembly Joint Resolution 33
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and military service of Sergeant Andrew Steiner, United States Army Reserve.
Whereas, Andrew was born on August 28, 1986, in Green Bay, to Douglas and Nicole Steiner, and died on February 2, 2013, outside of Green Bay, of injuries he sustained while assisting at the site of a motor vehicle crash; and
Whereas, Andrew was a 2004 graduate of Bay Port High School in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and was a student at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College; and
Whereas, Andrew proudly joined the United States Army on August 16, 2006, and served tours overseas in Kuwait, from August 2007 to May 2008, and Afghanistan, from May 2011 to June 2012; and
Whereas, Andrew was promoted to the rank of sergeant on December 1, 2011, and embodied the Army's core values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal service; and
Whereas, Andrew received numerous military awards, including the following: the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral 2, the Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the NATO Medal; and
Whereas, Andrew was the beloved son of Douglas and Nicole Steiner, brother to Samantha DuBois, brother-in-law to Joshua DuBois, uncle to Emma DuBois, brother to Kevin Armstrong, and brother to Lyssa Steiner; and
Whereas, Andrew will be sorely missed, but his memory will live on: he will forever be remembered as having passed away the way he lived — serving others; and
Whereas, his sacrifice and service to others are an example to us all; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the legislature of the state of Wisconsin commemorates the remarkable life of Andrew C. Steiner and extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues; and, be it further
Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint resolution to Andrew's parents, Douglas and Nicole.
