AB147,1,2 1An Act to renumber 36.11 (3) (a); and to create 36.11 (3) (a) 2. of the statutes;
2relating to: the admission of veterans to the University of Wisconsin System.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill directs the board of regents of the University of Wisconsin System to
ensure that any resident of this state who is a high school graduate and who has been
honorably discharged from the U.S. armed forces is admitted as an undergraduate
to the center or institution to which he or she applies if he or she applies within 2
years after the discharge. The bill allows the board to require that the student be
admitted on a probationary basis for one semester.
Finally, the bill provides that if the board restricts the number of students who
may be enrolled at any institution or center, the veterans admitted under the above
provision are excluded from that restriction.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB147, s. 1 3Section 1. 36.11 (3) (a) of the statutes is renumbered 36.11 (3) (a) 1.
AB147, s. 2 4Section 2. 36.11 (3) (a) 2. of the statutes is created to read:
AB147,2,35 36.11 (3) (a) 2. The board shall ensure that any resident of this state who is a
6high school graduate, has been honorably discharged from the U.S. armed forces and
7applies for admittance to a center or institution within 2 years after the discharge
8is admitted as an undergraduate to that center or institution. The board may require

1that the student be admitted on a probationary basis for one semester. If the board
2restricts the number of students who may be enrolled at any institution or center, the
3students admitted under this subdivision shall be excluded from that restriction.
