1An Act to amend 341.266 (2) (e) 2. and 341.268 (2) (e) 2. of the statutes;
relating
2to: load weight limits on trucks registered with the department of
3transportation as special interest, reconstructed, replica, street modified or
4homemade vehicles.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, with certain restrictions, the owner may register as a
special interest vehicle a vehicle that is at least 20 years old and has not been altered
or modified from the original manufacturer's specifications and that, because of its
historic interest, is being preserved by hobbyists. The owner may register a qualified
vehicle as a reconstructed, replica, street modified or homemade vehicle. Any of
these vehicles may be reregistered for no additional fee. A truck that is registered
as one of these special vehicle types may not haul material weighing more than 500
pounds.
This bill exempts the weight of a camper, lid or cap that is mounted on a truck
and the weight of the driver and any passengers from applying toward these weight
limits.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
