AB57,1,2 1An Act to create 120.13 (1) (f) of the statutes; relating to: the enrollment of a
2pupil who has been expelled from another school district.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, a pupil who is expelled from one school district and moves
to another school district must be accepted by the latter school district for
enrollment. This bill provides that no school district is required to enroll a pupil
during the term of his or her expulsion from another school district. The bill also
provides that, if an expelled pupil seeks to enroll in another school district, upon
request the school board of the pupil's former school district must provide the other
school district with a written explanation of the reasons why the pupil was expelled.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB57, s. 1 3Section 1. 120.13 (1) (f) of the statutes is created to read:
AB57,1,94 120.13 (1) (f) No school board is required to enroll a pupil during the term of
5his or her expulsion from another school district. Notwithstanding s. 118.125 (2) and
6(4), if a pupil who has been expelled from one school district seeks to enroll in another
7school district during the term of his or her expulsion, upon request the school board
8of the former school district shall provide the school board of the latter school district
9with a written explanation of the reasons why the pupil was expelled.
