1An Act to amend 49.19 (11) (a) 1. a. (intro.); and
to create 49.19 (11v) of the
2statutes;
relating to: requiring the department of health and social services
3to request a waiver to reduce the standards of assistance for aid to families with
4dependent children.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, monthly payments made to a person or family with
dependent children equal the sum of 80% of the total allowances for that individual
or family and the standard of assistance. Currently the standards of assistance
range from $301 for a family of one to $1,179 for a family of 10. This bill requires the
department of health and social services to request a waiver from the federal
secretary of health and human services to reduce the standards of assistance. Under
the bill, if a waiver is granted and in effect, the standards of assistance range from
$204 for a family of one to $669 for a family of 10.

8assistance under par. (b) instead of the standards of assistance under sub. (11) (a) 1.
