required to promulgate rules establishing standards for the operation of day care
centers. Currently, DHSS rules permit a child to attend a day care center for not
more than 12 hours during any 24-hour period. This bill requires DHSS to
promulgate rules permitting a child to attend a group day care center or a family day
care home for not more than 13 hours during any 24-hour period and for not more
than 55 hours during any 7-day period.
