2developmentally disabled.

This bill requires the department of health and social services (DHSS) to
investigate the feasibility of and analyze the potential savings and efficiencies of
contracting with a private vendor to operate the state centers for the
developmentally disabled and selling the state centers for the developmentally
disabled to such a private vendor. DHSS must, by June 30, 1996, report the findings
resulting from its investigation and analysis to appropriate standing committees of
the legislature and to the governor.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

SB238,2,4 4(1)  Operation and ownership of the state centers for the developmentally
5disabled
. The department of health and social services shall investigate the
6feasibility of and analyze the potential savings and efficiencies of contracting with
7a private vendor to operate and provide care, treatment and services for residents of
8the state centers for the developmentally disabled and selling the state centers for

1the developmentally disabled to such a private vendor. By June 30, 1996, the
2department of health and social services shall report its findings resulting from this
3investigation and analysis to the appropriate standing committees of the legislature
4in the manner provided under section 13.172 (3) of the statutes and to the governor.
