June 6, 1995 - Introduced by Senators Breske and Decker, cosponsored by
Representatives Lorge, Ryba, Hahn, Hasenohrl and Springer. Referred to
Committee on Environment and Energy.
SB251,1,2 1An Act to amend 29.598 (7) (b) 3. of the statutes; relating to: the deductible
2under the wildlife damage claim program.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the department of natural resources (DNR) provides
financial assistance to landowners for damage done by deer, bear or geese to
agricultural crops, livestock, nursery stock or apiaries by making damage payments
of up to $5,000 if the landowner otherwise complies with the program.
To receive this financial assistance, a landowner files a statement of claim for
wildlife damage with DNR. Under current law, this amount is reduced by a $250
deductible. This bill reduces the deductible to $100.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
