This bill directs the department of public instruction to study the feasibility of
establishing a statewide or cooperative educational service agency-wide staff
development calendar for school districts.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB281, s. 1 3Section 1. Nonstatutory provisions.
SB281,2,2 4(1)  Staff development calendar. During the 1996-97 school year, the
5department of public instruction shall study the feasibility of establishing a
6statewide or cooperative educational service agency-wide staff development
7calendar for school districts to identify the benefits of a more coordinated approach
8to staff development and to explore how that would improve the effectiveness of staff
9development efforts and support greater interaction between teachers of different
10school districts. The department shall submit its report by January 1, 1997, to the

1governor, and to the appropriate standing committees of the legislature in the
2manner provided under section 13.172 (3) of the statutes.
