SB492,1,2 An Act to amend 939.64 (2) of the statutes; relating to: wearing a bulletproof vest while committing a felony and providing a penalty.

Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau

Under current law, if a person commits a felony while wearing a bulletproof vest, the maximum term of imprisonment for the felony is increased by 5 years. This bill makes the increase 10 years.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SB492, s. 1 Section 1. 939.64 (2) of the statutes is amended to read:

SB492,1,6 939.64 (2) If a person commits a felony while wearing a bulletproof garment, the maximum term of imprisonment prescribed by law for that crime may be in creased by 5 10 years.

SB492, s. 2 Section 2. Initial applicability.

SB492,1,9 (1)  This act first applies to offenses committed on the effective date of this sub section.
