Current law does not specifically authorize or prevent the adoption by the board
of regents of the University of Wisconsin System (board) of a prohibition against the
use of cigarettes and tobacco products on property that is subject to the board's
jurisdiction. This bill authorizes the board to prohibit the use of cigarettes and
tobacco products on property that is subject to its jurisdiction.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

1. 36.11 (27) of the statutes is created to read:

(27) Prohibition of tobacco. The board may prohibit the use of
7cigarettes, as defined in s. 139.30 (1), and tobacco products, as defined in s. 139.75
8(12), on property that is subject to its jurisdiction.
