SJR14,1,2 1Relating to: memorializing Congress to establish a temporary independent
2commission on the health care concerns of Persian Gulf War veterans.
SJR14,1,63 Whereas, numerous men and women who served in the Middle East with the
4U.S. armed forces during the Persian Gulf War, many of whom are from Wisconsin,
5are now suffering from a wide range of physical and psychological maladies, the exact
6causes of which are unknown at this time; and
SJR14,1,117 Whereas, historically the federal government has been hesitant to accept
8responsibility for many medical conditions suffered by veterans that subsequently
9have been directly linked to their military service, including those incurred by World
10War II, Korean War and Cold War radiation veterans, World War I mustard gas
11exposure veterans, and Vietnam War Agent Orange veterans; and
SJR14,1,1412 Whereas, there is presently insufficient independent medical research being
13conducted with respect to the health care concerns of Persian Gulf War veterans;
14now, therefore, be it
SJR14,2,3 15Resolved by the senate, the Assembly concurring, That: the President and
16Congress are urged to expeditiously create a temporary independent federal
17commission on the health care concerns of Persian Gulf War veterans to ensure the

1prompt resolution of this issue as well as to ensure appropriate treatment and
2compensation of these veterans without any further unnecessary delay; and, be it

SJR14,2,7 4Resolved, That: the senate chief clerk shall forward a copy of this joint
5resolution to the President of the United States, each member of the Wisconsin
6congressional delegation and the members of the U.S. senate and house veterans
7affairs committees.
