1995 Senate JOINT RESOLUTION 16

March 8, 1995 - Introduced by Senator Buettner, cosponsored by Representative Dobyns.

SJR16,1,1 Relating to: the life and public service of Louis Fellenz.

SJR16,1,3 Whereas, Louis Fellenz was born on March 27, 1915, in Fond du Lac and died on January 7, 1993, in Tryon, North Carolina; and

SJR16,1,5 Whereas, Mr. Fellenz earned bachelor's and law degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison; and

SJR16,1,6 Whereas, he was elected to the state senate in 1940; and

SJR16,1,7 Whereas, he resigned his senate seat in June, 1944, to join the U.S. army; and

SJR16,1,10 Whereas, he was reelected to the senate in 1944 and as a result was discharged from the army on December 10, 1944, so that he could serve in the position to which he was reelected, which he did during the 1945-46 and 1947-48 sessions; and

SJR16,1,14 Whereas, Mr. Fellenz served faithfully and effectively on the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee and the Legislative Procedure Committee and was the chairperson of the Corporations and Taxation Committee and the Labor and Management Committee; and

SJR16,1,16 Whereas, after leaving the state senate he was an attorney and a mortgage banker; now, therefore, be it

SJR16,2,4 Resolved by the senate, the Assembly concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the life and public service of Louis Fellenz, express their sorrow at his death and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further

SJR16,2,7 Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to Mr. Fellenz's wife, Virginia; to his son, Lon; and to his daughter, Lynn Woods.
