SJR16,1,1 1Relating to: the life and public service of Louis Fellenz.
SJR16,1,32 Whereas, Louis Fellenz was born on March 27, 1915, in Fond du Lac and died
3on January 7, 1993, in Tryon, North Carolina; and
SJR16,1,54 Whereas, Mr. Fellenz earned bachelor's and law degrees from the University
5of Wisconsin-Madison; and
SJR16,1,66 Whereas, he was elected to the state senate in 1940; and
SJR16,1,77 Whereas, he resigned his senate seat in June, 1944, to join the U.S. army; and
SJR16,1,108 Whereas, he was reelected to the senate in 1944 and as a result was discharged
9from the army on December 10, 1944, so that he could serve in the position to which
10he was reelected, which he did during the 1945-46 and 1947-48 sessions; and
SJR16,1,1411 Whereas, Mr. Fellenz served faithfully and effectively on the Veterans and
12Military Affairs Committee and the Legislative Procedure Committee and was the
13chairperson of the Corporations and Taxation Committee and the Labor and
14Management Committee; and
SJR16,1,1615 Whereas, after leaving the state senate he was an attorney and a mortgage
16banker; now, therefore, be it

1Resolved by the senate, the Assembly concurring, That the members of the
2Wisconsin legislature commend the life and public service of Louis Fellenz, express
3their sorrow at his death and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and,
4be it further
SJR16,2,7 5Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
6resolution to Mr. Fellenz's wife, Virginia; to his son, Lon; and to his daughter, Lynn
7Woods.
