SR4,1,1 1Relating to: recognizing and affirming the original charter of Beloit College.
SR4,1,32 Whereas, Beloit College, located in the city of Beloit, was chartered on February
32, 1846, through an official act of the Wisconsin territorial legislature; and
SR4,1,44 Whereas, Beloit College was the first college or university in Wisconsin; and
SR4,1,65 Whereas, Beloit College was founded by Yale University graduates as the
6"Yale-of-the-West"; and
SR4,1,87 Whereas, Beloit College represents a student body of 1,150 students from 42
8countries and all 50 states; and
SR4,1,119 Whereas, Beloit College has served the citizens of this state and the nation and
10others from around the world with distinction for the past 150 years; now, therefore,
11be it
SR4,1,13 12Resolved by the senate, That the senate does hereby recognize and affirm the
13original charter set forth for Beloit College on February 2, 1846; and, be it further
SR4,1,16 14Resolved, That the senate further acknowledges this state's gratitude to
15Beloit College for its exemplary efforts in educating the citizens of this state and the
16nation and others from around the world for the past 150 years.
