AB129,1,2 1An Act to amend 30.62 (3) (a) of the statutes; relating to: wearing personal
2flotation devices on boats.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, each boat must have on it a personal flotation device for each
person riding in or on the boat. Under this bill, each person riding in or on a boat
must wear a personal flotation device.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB129, s. 1 3Section 1. 30.62 (3) (a) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB129,1,84 30.62 (3) (a) Every boat, except Except for riding on a sailboard and except as
5provided in par. (b), shall carry at least one each person riding in or on a boat shall
6wear a
personal flotation device, prescribed by federal regulations for each person
7on board or being attended by the boat, so placed as to be readily accessible and
8available to the persons
, during the time the boat is being operated.

AB129,2,32 (1) This act takes effect on the first day of the 4th month beginning after
