AJR116,1,32 Whereas, millions of retired Americans depend substantially on social security
3payments as a source of income; and
AJR116,1,54 Whereas, millions of working Americans pay into the social security system and
5anticipate receiving social security benefits after they have retired; and
AJR116,1,66 Whereas, the future fiscal viability of the social security system is in doubt; and
AJR116,1,97 Whereas, a failure of that system would result in financial catastrophe for
8countless Americans and would place an onerous financial burden on various units
9of government; and
AJR116,1,1110 Whereas, in order to avoid that catastrophe, major changes to the social
11security system are needed; now, therefore, be it
AJR116,1,15 12Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
13Wisconsin legislature urge Congress to honor obligations to retired Americans, to
14replace the current pay-as-you-go social security system with a fully funded system
15and to create incentives for workers to save for their retirement; and, be it further

1Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
2resolution to each member of this state's congressional delegation.
