AJR29,1,2 1Relating to: memorializing Congress to pass legislation requiring professional
2sports leagues to permit community ownership of their franchises.
AJR29,1,43 Whereas, professional sports leagues set conditions on the ownership of their
4franchises; and
AJR29,1,65 Whereas, the leagues may forbid community ownership of franchises and some
6leagues have done so; and
AJR29,1,107 Whereas, the Green Bay Packers, a community-owned franchise, has
8conclusively demonstrated the advantages of that kind of ownership, including
9abolition of the possibility of moving the franchise and of the possibility of operating
10the franchise in ways that harm the community; and
AJR29,1,1311 Whereas, the Packers have also demonstrated that community-owned teams
12can be financially robust and highly successful on the playing field; now, therefore,

AJR29,1,16 14Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
15Wisconsin legislature urge Congress to enact legislation to require all professional
16sports leagues to allow community-owned franchises; and, be it further

1Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
2resolution to each member of this state's congressional delegation.
