1997 Assembly RESOLUTION 22

March 25, 1998 - Introduced by Representative L. Young. Referred to Committee on Rules.

AR22,1,2 Relating to: commending the Milwaukee Vincent High School boys' basketball team.

AR22,1,4 Whereas, the Milwaukee Vincent High School team won the WIAA Division One boys' basketball championship by defeating Middleton High School 36 to 34; and

AR22,1,7 Whereas, that victory was Vincent's 3rd consecutive state championship, a feat that only 2 other high school boys' teams have accomplished in the history of Wisconsin high school basketball; and

AR22,1,9 Whereas, Vincent's 3 tournament victories improved its record to 26 wins and only one loss; and

AR22,1,12 Whereas, at the conclusion of the championship game the Vincent players showed that they are not only great athletes but also great sportsmen and gentlemen by inviting the Middleton players to join them in their celebration; and

AR22,1,15 Whereas, the Milwaukee Vincent High School basketball players have thus established themselves as role models for young athletes in Milwaukee and throughout Wisconsin; now, therefore, be it

AR22,2,3 Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly congratulate the Milwaukee Vincent boys' basketball team on their championship and their remarkable season; and, be it further

AR22,2,5 Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this resolution to the boys' basketball coach and the principal of Milwaukee Vincent High School.
