AB248,1,2 1An Act to amend 70.337 (5) of the statutes; relating to: excluding churches and
2religious associations from the property tax exemption report filing fee.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, owners of property that is exempt from taxation are
required to file a report every two years and to pay a fee to defray the costs of
preparing and distributing the report forms and reviewing the report. This bill
exempts churches and religious associations from that fee.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB248, s. 1 3Section 1. 70.337 (5) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB248,2,24 70.337 (5) Each person that is required to file a report under sub. (1), except
5a church or a religious association,
shall pay a reasonable fee that is sufficient to
6defray the costs to the taxation district of distributing and reviewing the forms under

1sub. (1) and of preparing the form for the department of revenue under sub. (2). The
2amount of the fee shall be established by the governing body of the taxation district.
