AB656,1,4 1An Act to create 20.515 (1) (bm) and 40.02 (17) (gr) of the statutes; relating to:
2granting creditable service under the Wisconsin retirement system to certain
3assistant district attorneys formerly employed by Milwaukee County and
4making an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill grants creditable service under the Wisconsin retirement system
(WRS) to former assistant district attorneys who were employed in the Milwaukee
County district attorney's office on December 31, 1989, who became state employes
and WRS participants on January 1, 1990, who were not vested in the Milwaukee
County employes' retirement system (MCERS) at the time of their becoming
participants in the WRS and who terminated state employment before October 29,
1999, for their total period of service under the MCERS.
This bill will be referred to the joint survey committee on retirement systems
for a detailed analysis, which will be printed as an appendix to this bill.

an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB656, s. 1 5Section 1. 20.515 (1) (bm) of the statutes is created to read:

120.515 (1) (bm) Retirement benefits for certain former assistant district
2attorneys.
A sum sufficient to pay the cost of granting creditable service under s.
340.02 (17) (gr).
AB656, s. 2 4Section 2. 40.02 (17) (gr) of the statutes is created to read:
AB656,2,105 40.02 (17) (gr) Any assistant district attorney in a county having a population
6of 500,000 or more who did not have vested benefit rights under the retirement
7system established under chapter 201, laws of 1937, who became a participating
8employe on January 1, 1990, and who terminated state employment before October
929, 1999, shall receive creditable service for the total period of his or her service
10under the retirement system established under chapter 201, laws of 1937.
