SJR22,1,2 Relating to: designating the week of November 7 to 13, 1999, as "Hire a Veteran Week" in Wisconsin.

SJR22,1,4 Whereas, the people of Wisconsin have both a deep appreciation and respect for the men and women who serve in the armed forces; and

SJR22,1,5 Whereas, many veterans encounter difficulties in securing employment; and

SJR22,1,7 Whereas, veterans possess unique skills and special qualities which make them ideal candidates for employment; and

SJR22,1,11 Whereas, the department of veterans affairs and many units of government administer veterans programs and have veterans employment representatives to assist veterans in receiving the services to which they are entitled and to promote employer interest in hiring veterans; now, therefore, be it

SJR22,2,2 Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature hereby proclaim the week of November 7 to 13, 1999, as "Hire a Veteran Week" and urge employers, labor organizations, veterans organizations, and federal, state and local governmental agencies to lend their support in a campaign to increase employment of the men and women who have served our state and nation in the armed forces; and, be it further

SJR22,2,5 Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to the secretary of the Wisconsin department of veterans affairs and to each member of the council on veterans programs.
