SJR9,1,117 Whereas, the Wisconsin Education Association Council, the School
8Administrators Alliance, the Wisconsin Association of School Boards, the Wisconsin
9Library Association, the Wisconsin Newspaper Association and the Wisconsin PTA
10have joined together to celebrate reading on Dr. Seuss' birthday; now, therefore, be

SJR9,2,2 12Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That, to celebrate
13reading and to honor Dr. Seuss and others like him for encouraging children to read,
14the Wisconsin legislature declares March 2, 1999, "Read Across Wisconsin Day",

1encourages all parents to read to their children for one-half hour on this day and
2encourages all children to spend time with someone who will read to them on this day.
