AR6,1,1 1Relating to: welcoming Timothy M. Dolan, the new Archbishop of Milwaukee.
AR6,1,32 Whereas, Timothy Dolan was named the 10th Archbishop of Milwaukee by
3Pope John Paul II on June 25, 2002; and
AR6,1,54 Whereas, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee was established in 1843 and includes
510 counties of southeastern Wisconsin and over 600,000 Catholics; and
AR6,1,96 Whereas, Archbishop Dolan has served as a parish priest, as secretary to the
7Apostolic Nunciature in Washington, D.C., as rector of the Pontifical North
8American College in Rome, and most recently as Auxiliary Bishop of St. Louis,
9Missouri; and
AR6,1,1110 Whereas, as Archbishop of Milwaukee, he will be the highest ranking and most
11visible leader of the Catholic church in Wisconsin; and
AR6,1,1412 Whereas, he has demonstrated throughout his career characteristics that will
13serve him well in that role: strength, courage, warmth, and humility; now, therefore,

1Resolved by the assembly, That the Wisconsin assembly welcomes
2Archbishop Dolan to Wisconsin; and, be it further
AR6,2,4 3Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution
