AB633,1,2 1An Act to create 16.85 (10m) of the statutes; relating to: use of distributed
2generation units in state building projects.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill directs the department of administration (DOA) to investigate the
potential to incorporate and to use distributed generation units in each state
building project that is expected to involve an expenditure of $5,000,000 or more. In
conducting its investigation, the bill directs DOA to consider the cost effectiveness
of such use, the potential for such use to increase statewide power generation
capacity, and the potential for cost savings to be realized by the state from such use.
Under the bill, DOA must report the results of its investigation, together with its
recommendations and the reasons therefor, to the building commission prior to
consideration of the project by the commission. The bill defines "distributed
generation unit" to mean any form of energy generation that may be used by electric
consumers for the generation of electric power.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
