AJR86,1,1 1Relating to: the 60th anniversary of the Civil Air Patrol.
AJR86,1,32 Whereas, the Civil Air Patrol was established by Congress on December 1,
31941; and
AJR86,1,54 Whereas, the Civil Air Patrol immediately began to serve America by flying
5antisubmarine patrols on the Atlantic coast; and
AJR86,1,86 Whereas, the activities of the Civil Air Patrol during World War II greatly
7reduced enemy submarine activity in American waters and helped save the lives of
8many survivors of torpedoed ships; and
AJR86,1,109 Whereas, after the war, the Civil Air Patrol became the official auxiliary of the
10U.S. Air Force; and
AJR86,1,1211 Whereas, today the volunteers of the Civil Air Patrol perform a vital role in
12search and rescue and disaster relief; and
AJR86,1,1413 Whereas, the Civil Air Patrol now has over 53,000 members and over 500
14aircraft, which are supplemented by over 4,500 aircraft owned by members; and

1Whereas, historically, the Civil Air Patrol has been the single largest source of
2cadets for our nation's military academies; and
AJR86,2,63 Whereas, with the recent return of national security to the forefront of
4American affairs, the Civil Air Patrol is once again fulfilling its original role of
5insuring homeland security, flying numerous missions since September 11 to assess
6damage and deliver medical supplies; now, therefore, be it
AJR86,2,9 7Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
8Wisconsin legislature salute the Civil Air Patrol for its 60 years of service to America;
9and, be it further
AJR86,2,11 10Resolved, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature support the
11important and ongoing work of this valuable organization.
