SB229,1,2 1An Act to amend 343.12 (2) (e) of the statutes; relating to: qualifications for
2an endorsement authorizing a person to operate a school bus.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, a person can receive an endorsement to his or her regular
motor vehicle operator's license that allows the person to operate a school bus if the
person has several qualifications. One qualification is that the person may not have
been convicted of a felony or an offense against public morals within the last five
years, if the circumstances of the felony or offense substantially relate to the
circumstances of operating a school bus.
This bill eliminates the five-year limitation.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB229, s. 1 3Section 1. 343.12 (2) (e) of the statutes is amended to read:

5convicted at any time of a felony or offense against public morals in this state,
6including a conviction under the law of a federally recognized American Indian tribe
7or band in this state for an offense which, if the person had been convicted of the

1offense under the laws of this state, would have constituted a felony or offense
2against public morals, or in another jurisdiction, within the past 5 years.
