Under current law, the department of transportation (DOT) provides state aid
payments to local public bodies under the urban mass transit operating assistance
program. Recipients of such aid payments are required to repay DOT for any
overpayments under the program. This bill requires DOT to waive repayment by the
city of Rhinelander for any overpayment of aid for calendar years 1997 through 1999.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

SB332,2,24 (1) Overpayment of state transit operating aids. Notwithstanding section
585.20 (4m) (er) of the statutes, the department of transportation shall waive
6repayment by the city of Rhinelander of any outstanding balance of overpayments

1of state transit operating aids distributed by the department to the city for the
2calendar years 1997 through 1999.
