2001 - 2002 LEGISLATURE
February 22, 2002 - Introduced by Senators Decker and Schultz, cosponsored by
Representatives Foti and Petrowski. Referred to Committee on Insurance,
Tourism, and Transportation.
SB457,1,3 1An Act to amend 348.07 (1) of the statutes; relating to: allowing 2-vehicle
2combinations of a certain length to operate on certain highways without a
3permit.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, with limited exceptions, no person may operate on a
highway any single vehicle with an overall length in excess of 40 feet or any
combination of two vehicles with an overall length in excess of 65 feet, unless the
person has a permit to exceed these lengths.
This bill increases, from 65 feet to 70 feet, the maximum overall length of a
two-vehicle combination that may be operated on a highway under the jurisdiction
of the department of transportation without a permit.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
