SJR10,1,32 Whereas, Richard J. Zaborski was born on January 7, 1927, and died January
39, 2001; and
SJR10,1,64 Whereas, Richard J. Zaborski showed an early flair for leadership at St. Mary
5of Czestochowa grade school and Messmer High School in Milwaukee, being elected
6president of various organizations and societies; and
SJR10,1,97 Whereas, he demonstrated further leadership in volunteering for service in the
8United States Army on his 18th birthday, where he was commissioned as a
9lieutenant; and
SJR10,1,1210 Whereas, in 1950, he again answered his country's call, serving as a combat
11infantry officer in Korea, and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for
12valor; and
SJR10,1,1413 Whereas, after the war, he attended Marquette University, receiving his B.S.
14degree in 1953; and

1Whereas, he soon became active in Democratic politics in Milwaukee, being
2elected to the Wisconsin senate in 1954 to represent the 11th district for the first of
33 terms; and
SJR10,2,54 Whereas, he quickly showed a flair for strong advocacy from the floor of the
5senate, supporting the causes he championed with wit and zeal; and
SJR10,2,66 Whereas, he was a pioneer as a full-time legislator; and
SJR10,2,77 Whereas, he was elected Democratic leader in the senate in 1963 and 1965; and
SJR10,2,98 Whereas, he returned to private life in 1967 and worked for many years for
9Pabst Brewing Company; now, therefore, be it
SJR10,2,12 10Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature
11recognizes the important and selfless contributions of Richard J. Zaborski to his
12country and the Wisconsin legislature, and mourns his passing; and, be it further
SJR10,2,15 13Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
14resolution to his wife Mary Ann of Brookfield and his daughter Robin Mosey of
15Brookfield.
