SJR50,1,32 Whereas, Jerome Nicholas "Cork" Meyer was born on November 3, 1918, in
3Waunakee, Wisconsin, and passed away on March 30, 2001; and
SJR50,1,54 Whereas, he graduated from St. John's School in 1932 and from Waunakee
5High School in 1936; and
SJR50,1,76 Whereas, in 1942, he attended Whitewater State University and studied Army
7Administration at the Mississippi Southern College; and
SJR50,1,98 Whereas, he served in the United States Army from November 1941 to October
91945, including 20 months overseas in North Africa, Italy, France, and Germany; and
SJR50,1,1110 Whereas, after being honorably discharged, Jerome attended Madison
11Business College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison; and
SJR50,1,1312 Whereas, on February 12, 1944, he married Muriel Riley at St. Ann's Chapel
13in Ipswich, Massachusetts; and

1Whereas, Jerome was a lifelong member of St. John's Catholic Church and an
2active member of St. John's Knights of Columbus and the Holy Trinity Tri-County
3Fourth Degree Council; and
SJR50,2,64 Whereas, he was a member of the Waunakee Village Board for 10 years and a
5longtime Assistant Chief Clerk of the Wisconsin State Senate, retiring in 1982; now,
6therefore, be it
SJR50,2,10 7Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
8Wisconsin legislature commend the life of Jerome Meyer as a shinning example of
9public service in the best tradition of Wisconsin and mourn the passing of a friend
10and associate; and, be it further
SJR50,2,13 11Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
12resolution to Mr. Meyer's daughters, Marianne E. Meyer, Donna J. Doyle, and
13Jerilyn M. Dahmen, all of Waunakee.
