SJR58,1,52 Whereas, President Ronald Wilson Reagan, a man of humble background,
3worked throughout his life serving freedom and advancing the public good by his
4employment as an entertainer, union leader, corporate spokesman, governor of
5California, and President of the United States; and
SJR58,1,106 Whereas, Ronald Reagan served with honor and distinction for 2 terms as the
740th President of the United States of America; the 2nd of which he earned the
8confidence of three-fifths of the electorate and was victorious in 49 of the 50 states
9in the general election, which is a record unsurpassed in the history of American
10presidential elections; and
SJR58,1,1211 Whereas, in 1981, when Ronald Reagan was inaugurated President, he faced
12numerous challenges including inflation and high unemployment rates; and
SJR58,2,213 Whereas, during Mr. Reagan's presidency, he worked in a bipartisan manner
14to enact his bold agenda of restoring accountability and common sense to

1government, which led to an unprecedented economic expansion and opportunity for
2millions of Americans; and
SJR58,2,43 Whereas, Mr. Reagan's commitment to an active social policy agenda for the
4nation's children helped lower crime and drug use in our neighborhoods; and
SJR58,2,65 Whereas, President Reagan's commitment to our armed forces contributed to
6the restoration of pride in America and her armed forces to win the Gulf War; and
SJR58,2,97 Whereas, President Reagan's vision of "peace through strength" led to the end
8of the Cold War and the end of the Soviet Union, restoring democracy to a region long
9under communist rule; and
SJR58,2,1110 Whereas, on February 6, 2002, Ronald Reagan will reach the age of ninety one
11years; now, therefore, be it
SJR58,2,13 12Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of
13the state of Wisconsin hereby recognizes February 6 as Ronald Reagan Day.
