SJR67,1,53 Whereas, the Capitol Police Department is responsible for the security of more
4than 800 buildings and facilities throughout the state of Wisconsin, including State
5Fair Park; and
SJR67,1,76 Whereas, the Capitol Police were combined with the State Fair Park Police
7Department to become one force to protect the people of Wisconsin; and
SJR67,1,98 Whereas, the Capitol Police Department has statewide jurisdiction and works
9cooperatively with law enforcement agencies throughout Wisconsin; and
SJR67,1,1210 Whereas, the department is responsible for ensuring the safety of all who come
11to exercise their rights to a democratic form of government through rallies,
12demonstrations, and marches on state property; and
SJR67,1,1413 Whereas, the Capitol Police maintain the freedom of speech, free expression,
14and the demonstration of Wisconsin ideas; and

1Whereas, due to the challenges faced by the United States of America and the
2state of Wisconsin, they have put in long hours and demonstrated dedication to their
3jobs to ensure protection when the entire nation is under a heightened risk of
4terrorism; and
SJR67,2,65 Whereas, their work has helped to guarantee the safety of other state
6employees as well as all citizens of the state; now, therefore, be it
SJR67,2,10 7Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
8Wisconsin legislature commend the devoted public service of the members of the
9Capitol Police Department for their contributions and sacrifices contributed to this
10state; and, be it further
SJR67,2,13 11Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
12resolution to each member of the Capitol Police Department as a small token of the
13gratitude of the people of Wisconsin.
