SR4,1,32 Whereas, Michael Joyce began his career as a teacher of history and political
3science at the secondary and college levels; and
SR4,1,64 Whereas, Michael Joyce worked with the Educational Research Council of
5America for 6 years before changing course and entering the arena of private
6foundations; and
SR4,1,9 7Whereas, Michael Joyce served in a leadership position in the John M. Olin
8Foundation in New York and in the Goldseker Foundation in Baltimore during his
920-year career in private philanthropy; and
SR4,1,11 10Whereas, Michael Joyce has served as president and chief executive officer of
11the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation since 1985; and
SR4,1,13 12Whereas, Michael Joyce is retiring as president and chief executive officer of
13the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation as of July 5, 2001; and

1Whereas, Michael Joyce plans to remain involved in civic and public affairs,
2especially efforts to strengthen churches, schools, and other institutions of civil
3society; and
SR4,2,54 Whereas, Michael Joyce has been praised for his work on family issues and
5faith-based efforts to deal with social problems; now, therefore, be it
SR4,2,7 6Resolved by the senate, That the members of the Wisconsin senate salute the
7life and public service of Michael Joyce; and, be it further
SR4,2,9 8Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution to
9Michael Joyce and to the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation.
