AJR26,1,22 Whereas, 41 million Americans do not have health care coverage; and
AJR26,1,43 Whereas, 8 out of 10 of the uninsured are in working families that cannot afford
4health insurance and are not eligible for public programs; and
AJR26,1,75 Whereas, the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services has
6reported that in 2001, 11% of Wisconsin residents were uninsured, and nearly 17%
7of Milwaukee residents were uninsured; and
AJR26,1,98 Whereas, the uninsured live sicker and die younger when they go without the
9health care they need; and
AJR26,1,1110 Whereas, a slow economy, higher unemployment, and rising health costs mean
11that more Americans are becoming uninsured in our community; and
AJR26,1,1312 Whereas, it is important to recognize the urgency of seeking solutions to one of
13America's greatest problems; now, therefore, be it
AJR26,2,2 14Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
15Wisconsin legislature declare the week of March 10 to 16, 2003, "Cover the

1Uninsured Week" in the state of Wisconsin, and commend this observance to all
2citizens.
