AJR74,1,32 Whereas, Sergeant Uhl, son of Joan and Eugene Uhl Jr., was born in Waupaca
3on November 27, 1981; and
AJR74,1,54 Whereas, Sergeant Uhl inherited a love of the outdoors and demonstrated skill
5as both a hunter and an angler; and
AJR74,1,86 Whereas, Sergeant Uhl exhibited his athleticism, leadership, and skill at
7Amherst High School by participating in track, cross-country, basketball, and
8student council; and
AJR74,1,119 Whereas, Sergeant Uhl demonstrated his selfless devotion to this country and
10upheld a family tradition of service by joining the Wisconsin National Guard in 1999;
11and
AJR74,1,1312 Whereas, Sergeant Uhl earned distinction by finishing in the top of his basic
13training class at Fort Sill, Oklahoma; and
AJR74,1,1514 Whereas, Sergeant Uhl on February 2003 was stationed in Iraq as a member
15of the 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery; and

1Whereas, on November 15, 2003, over the skies of Mosul, Iraq, Sergeant Uhl
2made the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuit of freedom; and
AJR74,2,53 Whereas, Sergeant Uhl was an upstanding citizen and student whose
4friendliness, work ethic, and companionship will be forever missed by his loving
5family and friends; and
AJR74,2,86 Whereas, the life and service of Sergeant Eugene A. Uhl III will forever be
7remembered by a grateful community, state, and nation as one based on service,
8honor, and patriotism; now, therefore, be it
AJR74,2,11 9Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
10Wisconsin legislature honor Eugene A. Uhl III for his dedication to country and
11express their heartfelt sorrow over the loss of his life; and, be it further
AJR74,2,14 12Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
13resolution to Sergeant Uhl's parents, Joan and Eugene Uhl Jr.; his sisters, Cheryl,
14Chastity, and Charity; and his fiancée, Emily Groshek.
