SB349,1,6 1An Act to create 20.245 (1) (f) and 44.16 (4) of the statutes; relating to: the
2expenditure by the State Historical Society of Wisconsin of an amount equal to
3two times the amount of contributions, gifts, grants, and bequests received for
4the Circus World Museum, not to exceed $1,500,000, for the operation,
5management, maintenance, and development of the Circus World Museum and
6making an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the State Historical Society of Wisconsin (Historical
Society) owns various historic sites, including the Circus World Museum in Baraboo,
which is operated by the Circus World Museum Foundation, Inc., under a lease
agreement with the Historical Society.
This bill appropriates to the Historical Society a sum sufficient of general
purpose revenues in an amount equal to two times the amount of contributions, gifts,
grants, and bequests received by the Circus World Museum Foundation, Inc., and by
the Wisconsin Historical Foundation, Inc., for the Circus World Museum in each
fiscal year, but not to exceed, $1,500,000, and requires the Historical Society to
expend the amount appropriated in each fiscal year for the operation, management,
maintenance, and development of the Circus World Museum.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB349, s. 1 1Section 1. 20.245 (1) (f) of the statutes is created to read:
SB349,2,72 20.245 (1) (f) Circus World Museum; state match. A sum sufficient in an
3amount equal to 2 times the amount of contributions, gifts, grants, and bequests
4received by the Circus World Museum Foundation, Inc., and by the Wisconsin
5Historical Foundation, Inc., for the Circus World Museum in each fiscal year, but not
6to exceed $1,500,000, for the operation, management, maintenance, and
7development of the Circus World Museum.
SB349, s. 2 8Section 2. 44.16 (4) of the statutes is created to read:
SB349,2,119 44.16 (4) In each fiscal year, the historical society shall expend the amount
10appropriated under s. 20.245 (1) (f) for the operation, management, maintenance,
11and development of the Circus World Museum.
