SB526,1,2 An Act to create 118.02 (5m) of the statutes; relating to: special observance days in school.

Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau

Current law requires school boards to observe certain dates (special observance days), such as January 15 for the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This bill adds March 17 to the list of special observance days, for "The Great Hunger" in Ireland from 1845 to 1850.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SB526, s. 1 Section 1. 118.02 (5m) of the statutes is created to read:

SB526,1,4 118.02 (5m) March 17, for "The Great Hunger" in Ireland from 1845 to 1850.

SB526, s. 2 Section 2. Effective date.

SB526,1,6 (1) This act takes effect on July 1, 2004.
