SB8,1,2 1An Act to create 19.36 (10) of the statutes; relating to: withholding certain
2security information from public inspection.

Under current law, with certain exceptions, a state or local governmental entity
is required to permit a requester to inspect records created or kept by the entity. This
bill creates another exception for records with information regarding security
measures for protecting the safety of the plant, equipment, employees, or customers
of persons that do any of the following: 1) generate, transmit, or distribute electricity;
2) transport or distribute natural gas; 3) operate a public water system; 4) provide
telecommunications service; or 5) provide sewer service.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB8, s. 1 3Section 1. 19.36 (10) of the statutes is created to read:
SB8,2,24 19.36 (10) Security information. An authority may withhold access to any
5record or portion of a record containing information regarding security measures to
6protect the safety of the plant, equipment, employees, or customers of a person that

1generates, transmits, or distributes electricity, transports or distributes natural gas,
2operates a public water system, or provides telecommunications or sewer service.
