Whereas, the Marquette University Golden Eagles, under the direction of Head
5Coach Tom Crean, claimed their first-ever outright Conference USA championship;

Whereas, with the leadership, dedication, and ambition of Coach Crean, the
8Golden Eagles finished the regular season with a record of 23-4; and

Whereas, the spectacular victory on their home court over the University of

Whereas, in his 4th year as a head coach, Tom Crean led the Golden Eagles to

Whereas, Tom Crean, the Ray Meyer Conference USA Coach of the Year the
14past 2 seasons, has led the Marquette University Men's Basketball Team to new
15heights with 79 wins in his first 4 seasons as head coach; and

1Whereas, the 2002-2003 team is the number one seed in the Conference USA
2Men's Basketball Conference Tournament commencing on March 12 in Louisville,

Whereas, the loyal fans of Marquette will put on their blue and gold attire once
5again and will sway along to "Ring Out Ahoya" as the Golden Eagles begin "March
6Madness"; now, therefore, be it

7Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
8legislature of the state of Wisconsin commend and congratulate the 2002-2003
9Marquette University Men's Basketball Team and Head Coach Tom Crean for their
10hard work and dedication in advancing men's basketball to one of it's highest levels,
11and share the pride of the citizens of the state of Wisconsin in their team
12achievement; and, be it further

14resolution to Head Coach Tom Crean, his staff, each member of the team, and
