SJR53,1,42 Whereas, Officer Richard A. Meyer was born on January 6, 1976, in Manitowoc,
3Wisconsin, and died on Thursday, November 13, 2003, in Neenah, Wisconsin, in the
4line of duty; and
SJR53,1,65 Whereas, Officer Meyer served with distinction and honor during his 3 years
6as an officer with the Winnebago County sheriff's department; and
SJR53,1,87 Whereas, Officer Meyer graduated from Valders High School in 1994, where he
8was a standout player on the high school football team; and
SJR53,1,109 Whereas, Officer Meyer graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh
10with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice in 1999; and
SJR53,1,1211 Whereas, Officer Meyer married his true love, Tanya Schuh, on August 12,
122000, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clarks Mills, Wisconsin; and
SJR53,1,1413 Whereas, Officer Meyer made the ultimate sacrifice for the people of
14Winnebago County by giving his life for their protection; and

1Whereas, Officer Meyer will always be remembered for being a strong and
2compassionate man, a loving and faithful husband, a dedicated and passionate
3father, a caring and devoted son, a thoughtful and considerate grandson, a
4dependable and supportive brother, a fun-loving and loyal friend, and always a
5remarkable deputy; now, therefore, be it
SJR53,2,9 6Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
7Wisconsin legislature commend the life of Winnebago County sheriff's deputy
8Richard A. Meyer, express their sorrow at his death, and extend their condolences
9to his family and friends; and, be it further
SJR53,2,18 10Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
11resolution to Officer Meyer's wife, Tanya Meyer of Menasha; to his son, Maxwell
12Meyer of Menasha; to his father and mother, Harlan and Linda Meyer of Valders; to
13his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Erin Meyer of Green Bay; to his sister and
14brother-in-law, Sandi and Rich Kappelman of Valders; to his grandparents, Lloyd
15and Pat Seibold of Manitowoc; to his paternal grandparents, Ted J. and Mary Ann
16Meyer of Newton; to his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Kathy Schuh of
17Valders; and to his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tim and Sara Schuh of
18Manitowoc and Terry and Colleen Schuh of Milwaukee.
